John Krasinski's IF landed in the top spot at the box office over the weekend, collecting an estimated $35 million dollars in ticket sales.
The live action - animated comedy stars Ryan Reynolds as a man who teams with a young girl, played by Cailey Fleming, 17, who discovers she can see others' imaginary friends.
Together she and Reynolds' Cal work to find new kids for imaginary friends or 'IFs' who've been left behind as their children grew into adulthood.
Critics and audiences reacted very differently to the family friendly film.
The adventure scored a very low 49-percent from the critics on Rotten Tomatoes, while moviegoers gave it a healthy 87-percent rating.
